Dress For Success Mid-October
on the Dakota Prairie has seen the extremes of a snowstorm in 1996 and
health-threatening ninety degree heat in 2003. December hunting records a
weather history almost as contrasting.
Dress
in layers with moisture wicking synthetics and/or wool. Wind and rain is
conquered with outer clothing lined with Gor-Tex. Dress also for safety; be
liberal in your use of blaze orange. Pay special attention to footwear.
As your health and fitness permits, you will be walking and walking and
walking some more. A pair of good, waterproof upland boots or two will serve
you well. Boot dryers are available at the lodge. Finally, protect your eyes with
safety glasses.
